Where To Buy Hyatt Gift Cards UPDATED
10% off is a good enough deal, but the reason I won't take advantage of this deal is that it can be a pain in the arse at checkout if you have an agent that doesn't know how to redeem it. I haven't tried Hyatt gift cards, but have had this issue with Marriott.

I also had a horrible experience when $2,000 of my Hyatt gift cards were stolen (electronically; I only found out at checkout at the Hyatt Regency Maui). Many hours on the phone with Hyatt (who initially refused to do anything for me, other than encourage me to contact the police), the police where the gift cards were actually used (California), and my credit card company later, I was finally made whole. But definitely not worth the risk to save that small an amount! (And I may have bought them when they were 20% off 4 years ago or so...still not worth it!)
While I love Hyatt, I won't be buying cards bc I had one (and only) bad experience with a Hyatt gift card. I ended up in a 2 month back and forth and finally got my $100 credited (they had added my $100 to my bill!). But it was also a Fairfield Inn so I prob deserved it. Mine was a 20% off gift card.

For me, the best deals came about a year ago when I was able to combine deals on eBay to save nearly 30% off of face value. Since I stay in a lot of Hyatt properties that savings definitely adds up and thus I stocked up on a ton of cards.
Hyatt cards on eBay are/were sold by SVM Gift Cards. SVM is the first party company that Hyatt hires to distribute their gift cards so I was the first and only owner. Generally when this is the case, you are mostly safe from fraud since no one else has the card numbers. Unfortunately, you are never truly safe, especially if the system has been compromised.
Over the Summer I used one of my $200 gift cards for a stay at a Hyatt Place in Charlotte. The cost was about $50, meaning I should have had plenty of value left on the card. Just two weeks or so later, I tried to use that same card and was informed it had been wiped out. Zero balance. How embarrassing. Luckily I had another Hyatt gift card with me that had not been compromised.
Once things settled down with my travel schedule, I called the Hyatt gift card customer service line to explain what had happened. They took the card numbers and started an investigation. A few days later I was told that I needed to provide proof of my purchase. I was never told what exactly happened with the cards or who had used them.
I commend Hyatt for honoring their product and replacing my compromised gift cards, but at some point I think they need to change their entire system if it is so easy to hack. Between finding out my iTunes cards were hacked recently and this fiasco, I surely am aware of the headaches of dealing with gift cards. Now I know why people just like to pay with cash! ?(function (d, s, n) var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s);js = d.createElement(s);js.className = n;js.src = "//player.ex.co/player/cdb773ba-c373-4a41-a1b3-fd0acd739cfd";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);(document, 'script', 'exco-player'));
Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card earns 2X Miles everywhere and is one of the most popular travel cards around. Right now earn 75K Miles after $4K spend in first 3 months. You can transfer Miles to 15+ travel partners. $95 annual fee is not waived.
My friends and I bought about $10,000 worth of Hyatt gift cards from CardCash.com. We did not realize there was a 45 day guarantee only because we live in California and figured that as per state law the gift cards would never expire. Guess what? Almost half of them were hacked before we could use them and we are out about $5000 combined. We called cash card to do a claim but they would not refund us the money since it had been over 45 days and American Express keeps denying the chargebacks. Hyatt was no help as well so we are just in the hole now. We are thinking about a class action lawsuit against cardcash.com if possible. This is the worst company ever! In one of their email responses to me they told me there was a risk to award ratio when purchasing these cards which I never knew. They also stated that sometimes they get a bad apple that sells them cards which is not disclosed on their website as well. They are knowingly selling cards that could be compromised which is unconscionable.
Just to confirm, your two hacked Hyatt gift cards were purchased from SVM via ebay? I bought a few from them so I need to check mine. This is very unsettling. I also thought we were safe if we bought from SVM.
I would advise only buying Hyatt cards from Hyatt-approved authorized sellers and would only buy them if planning to use them within a few days or weeks of getting them. DNC email servers are more secure than Hyatt gift cards!
Hyatt gift cards 10% off are currently available using promotional code GPGIFT14 in the purchase section of the Hyatt shopping cart.Currently only physical gift cards and gift checks are available for purchase with the 10% discount. There is a shipping fee associated with delivery. The minimum fee is $6.00 per FedEx delivery, regardless of the number of cards.
Yes you will get the 5% Amex Open rebate for buying these cards which will show up as being sold by Hyatt corporate, where charges at Hyatt House and Hyatt Place would normally NOT earn you this rebate, so this trick allows you to save 15% on Hyatt House and Hyatt Place stays.
CardCash is the largest gift card exchange. CardCash sells gift cards at a discount up to 35% and buys gift cards up to 92% of face value. The Top 5 selling gift cards at Card Cash are Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes and TJ Maxx. In 2013, CardCash raised $6 million in funding from Guggenheim. In 2014, CardCash acquired its largest competitor, Plastic Jungle. CardCash also has agreements for gift card exchange with Walmart, Amazon, CVS and United Airlines.
The maker of Coinstar kiosks (which convert coins to cash) and RedBox (DVD rental kiosks) now offers a kiosk to sell your gift cards for cash. Coinstar Exchange accepts gift cards from over 150 leading national retailers and restaurants, including Crate & Barrel, Hewlett Packard, Petco, Marriott, Gap, Walmart and others. While you need to visit the kiosk to convert a gift card to cash, the kiosk will pay you immediately (rather than waiting for a check or money transfer).
The bad news is that fraud may be on the rise. That seems counterintuitive as major credit and debit cards shift to more secure chip readers. However, many low-cost gift cards will not migrate to chip readers and still rely on more vulnerable magnetic strip technology, which is considered less secure and prone to fraud.
