The film revolves around the evil puppet Tatya Vinchu, who is searching for his dead ventriloquist creator's son, Aditya, in order to attain a human form. Tatya Vinchu was revived by a drop of blood from a criminal named Kubdya Khavis, who wanted to use him to find the location of some stolen diamonds. However, Tatya Vinchu kills Kubdya and escapes from his mansion. He then follows Aditya, who is a mechanical engineer and a ventriloquist like his father. Aditya lives with his grandmother in a village, where he falls in love with Megha, a lavani dancer. Tatya Vinchu tries to possess Aditya's body by using the Mrutyunjaya Mantra, but faces many obstacles and challenges from Aditya's friends and family.
Zapatlela 2 was released on 7 June 2013 and received positive reviews from critics and audiences. The film was praised for its humor, special effects, performances and direction.
