2020: The Year of Loss

Updated: May 12, 2021

Education Week's article entitled, Educators We've Lost to the Coronavirus, states that almost 1,000 K-12 educators/school personnel died in 2020-2021. If you told me a year ago that there would be more than half a million coronavirus deaths, I wouldn't have believed you. Then, if you told me that in Texas, we'd have almost 50,000 deaths, I'd say you were crazy.

But reality sat in April 2020. In my friend's immediate family and close circle, 7 were infected. Four died, and 3 recovered. The hardest part is when you see the name of friends, colleagues, or family in the article!

Glenda Thompson (d. 04/12/2020), you are loved and missed! #tryingnottocry

Please #getvaccinated and #wearamask! There are lives at stake!
